Dinner time is an important time for our furry friends.
But dinner time can also mean mess time too.
And where there’s mess there’s often unseen little nasties in the form of bacteria or infections waiting to strike. We all know it can be difficult keeping the eating area of our pets clean and up to the standard of the the rest of the decor that’s why we tend to hide this area away from view.

At Cosy and Dozy we saw this as a challenge and we think we have come up with the perfect solution that puts so many benefits into one beautiful and unique design idea.

The set includes:

  • One solid concrete round base with rubber pads underneath to protect your floor and minimise any sliding.
  • One removable steel bowl.

Proper eating and drinking conditions are important for our cat's physical and mental health

Despite appearances, it really is what your cat drinks and eats from that matters. Cat accessories for feeding and watering affect how much your cat eats, mentally and hygienically. And that translates into health.

More bowls, more health

In fact, we should start preparing the layette for our cat from a bowl. Or, more precisely, from ... bowls. And it is not as easy as it may seem. Here are some rules which will guarantee our cat's health and our comfort, as well as peace of mind for both of us.

Antibacterial steel

The material the bowl is made of is very important. At COSY AND DOZY we know that the most important thing is that the bowl is not made of plastic. First of all, plastic accumulates smells, which for a cat is a real problem. You know how a cat likes food that has been standing a little longer... Secondly, and more importantly, it is bacteria and fungi that easily multiply in a plastic bowl, especially in scratches, which are very easy to get in this material.
In conclusion, we strongly do not recommend such products. There is something else about plastic cat bowls that affects the mental health of both the cat and the owner.

Concrete base

The low weight of the product, and thus the ease of moving the bowl. The cat gets frustrated that it can't eat in peace, and stress can make a cat, like humans, quite sick. The cat can't help itself with its paw or claws at that point, and it doesn't feel like it's hunting, so that argument doesn't apply here. It's just that cortisol can mess up the body of our pet. And let's imagine this moment, when sleepy we enter the place where there are bowls for the cat and ... we step in one of them, because it "magically changed place" and stands in the middle of eg kitchen. We advise against it. A bowl should be stable, easy to clean and guarantee hygiene and peace of mind. Hence the special "feline" design of the COSY AND DOZY concrete cat bowl: the rubber base ensures stability, while the concrete cover provides the right weight for the cat accessory, as well as the right look, something for our well-being.

Size matters

Our cat bowl is also the perfect size. This matters because the wrong size bowl causes unnecessary uncomfortable sensations. Squeezing the head into a too small bowl or other container, causes our pet's whiskers to squeeze and crush, it's unnecessary stimuli, harmful for the cat. This situation, to which the cat is forced, because it has to eat, and for hunting in the rainforest is unlikely to go ..., can cause various aversions, both to a particular food and to the activity itself or other mental disorders or problems associated with poor nutrition.

Double (un)luck

You might want to ask why we don't have these double "super bowls" for your cats. Well we don't, because they are an "outrageous mistake" for your furry friends. Cats, instinctively, never drink (as they did when cats lived in the wild) water from where they eat. Why? Instinct tells him that then the water might be contaminated. Because the food is decomposing, and it's bacteria, so water next to such a bacteria/mold bomb is definitely not drinkable. That's why forcing a cat to drink from a bowl placed next to a food bowl is really, to put it mildly, unpleasant on our part. And also unhealthy.

Clean water

In fact, water can become contaminated faster because it is not difficult for pieces of food to get into the water. We also don't want to discourage your cat from drinking clean water, because hydration is the key to your cat's health. So let's make sure the bowls are the right distance apart and until the bowls are washed, don't confuse the one for water with the one for food. This is really important for your cat's body. (The removable steel part of the COSY AND DOZY cat bowl should be washed daily).

Anyone eat from my bowl?

What if you have more than one cat at home? Well you have to invest in separate bowls for each. It's a matter of, again, instinct. Cats are individualists. They are very bad at sharing meals with another cat. This can cause aggression between cats or other behavioral disorders, and certainly frustration and stress. And as we know, it is not good for health. Searching for the causes of diseases or behavioral disorders is certainly not cheaper than an extra bowl. And it's not about costs but about the health of the creature in our care. It is worth to place the bowls a bit far from each other, so that every cat has its own comfortable space to eat.

A meal without stress

If the cats are peeking at each other instead of eating peacefully, it means they feel threatened. It is a good idea to increase the distance between the bowls. It's also nice if the bowls are placed in such a way that the cat can look ahead to see if the "competition" wants food from his bowl. It's worth to place the bowls across from each other, not next to each other. Well, as you can guess, bowls in corners don't work very well. It causes in the cat constant, chronic fear for survival, because the animal doesn't know if someone won't attack it from behind during the activity which guarantees survival, that is eating. No one yet, no species, us humans included, has come out well and healthy when a meal was constantly threatened. Fear for food causes very bad effects, but I think everyone knows that and it is not worth repeating these terrible stories, let's focus on our health and happiness and that of our cats
